Kathua double murder: Police probe 'terror angle' | KNO

Jammu, Feb 18 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir Police are probing a terror angle in the double murder case of two civilians, Shamsher and Roshan Lal, who were strangulated to death in Billawar area of Kathua on February 16. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua, Shobhit Saxena, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), stated that the investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of death of two persons whose bodies were found along the banks of a stream in village Batheri at Billawar two days ago. “No, there is no breakthrough yet as investigation is still underway. So far, we have registered a murder case and an intensive probe is being conducted,” the SSP Kathua said. On Monday, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, while sharing his grief, had asked the concerned officers to investigate the cause of death of the duo. He had said that he was in touch with the local MLA as well on this account. The Chief Minister had shared this info on the micro-blogging site X. Meanwhile, a Police spokesman said that the Inspector General of Police Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti visited the forward areas in Kathua district to assess the situation. "Sniffer dogs were also called in for the probe on the third day of the incident. The IG was there along with DIG JKS, SSP Operations and Training and SP SOG Jammu along with other officials. We are looking into dump data of the area to get a breakthrough. Deceased were not fired upon. They were strangulated and were not carrying mobile phones when they went to forests," he added. Sources said that IGP Jammu also visited the place where Shamsher and Roshan Lal were found dead—(KNO)
